Feven Gurju: A Trailblazer in Cybersecurity and a Symbol of Academic Excellence 🏆🎓
Today, we proudly celebrate a young woman whose extraordinary academic journey has inspired many across Ethiopia and beyond.

Feven Gurju, a recent graduate of Bahir Dar University’s Institute of Technology, has made history — not only for completing her degree, but for graduating at the top of her class with a perfect 4.00 GPA in the field of Cybersecurity in the 2017 E.C. academic year (2025 G.C.). Her outstanding performance earned her the title of Best Graduating Student of the year — a distinction awarded with special recognition by the university.
Her achievement is not just a personal victory, but a national moment of pride, especially in the field of technology, where women continue to rise and lead despite challenges.
Feven’s academic record speaks volumes about her dedication. Out of 53 courses she completed, she earned an A+ in 42 of them — a feat that demonstrates not only intelligence, but consistency, determination, and passion for learning.
This excellence has rightfully earned her the honorary title of “Medal Awardee”, granted only to students with exceptional academic distinction.
In an interview with EBC (Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation), Feven shared insights into her journey. She explained that even before entering university, she had always been passionate about education and had consistently worked hard to achieve top results. Becoming one of the most outstanding students in her field had long been a dream — one she fulfilled through commitment and perseverance.
Feven also expressed deep gratitude for the people who supported her along the way. She gave thanks first to God, and then to her family and teachers, acknowledging their unwavering support as a key reason for her success.
But Feven’s journey doesn’t end here. Looking ahead, she emphasized the importance of Cybersecurity professionals in Ethiopia. In a time where digital transformation is rapidly expanding across the country, Feven recognizes that protecting data, systems, and infrastructure is more important than ever. She sees her role not just as a graduate, but as someone with a responsibility to serve her nation.
She has set her sights on making a significant impact in the tech sector — both through her skills and by being a role model for future generations of Ethiopian girls who dream of excelling in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
A Message of Inspiration
Feven’s story reminds us that success is not handed to anyone — it is earned. It comes through early mornings, late nights, difficult exams, and most importantly, a mindset that refuses to give up.
Her achievement is not only a result of personal effort but a shining example of what becomes possible when a community — family, educators, and institutions — rallies behind its youth.
To Feven Gurju, we say:
Congratulations on your outstanding success! 🎉
You are an inspiration to your peers, a source of pride for your family, and a bright light for the future of Ethiopian technology. 🇪🇹
We wish you continued success in all your future plans — and we look forward to seeing your impact grow far beyond the classroom.
